AFFIRMATIONS: A+ ACTION #7 for BUILDING YOUR SELF ESTEEM
 

What is an AFFIRMATION?

An AFFIRMATION is a strong, positive statement that something is already so!
It is a way of "making firm" that which you are thinking or visualizing. We all have inner dialogues going on in our minds all the time; these thoughts come from our
old patterns and programming from the past.  How aware are you of your inner dialogue? What are you telling yourself?  The words that run through our minds are very important; what we tell ourselves forms our perception of reality.  Is your dialogue one that builds your self esteem or chips away at it?  Listen to your self talk - do you like what you hear?  If not, you can change your thoughts....you can control what you say to yourself!!

Using AFFIRMATIONS to attract what you want into your life is a skill that can be learned and practiced; it is a purposeful method used to replace our inner negative self-talk with inner positive self-talk.  By verbalizing an affirmation we are creating a mental gap which we are naturally drawn to close.  Practiced regularly, an affirmation is a powerful technique that can transform our attitudes and thus create what we want for ourselves.

Shakti Gawain, an expert in the use of affirmations and creative visualizations, says "everything you give language to will manifest itself...what you focus on is what you attract" Affirmations are not lying to oneself; you are acknowledging the fact that everything is created first on the mental plane before it can manifest in objective reality.
 

TOP TEN TIPS to USE AFFIRMATIONS in order to CREATE the LIFE YOU WANT:

1. Always phrase affirmations in the first person and in the present tense, as if it already exists.
        <I am now happy in my new, challenging, fulfilling profession as a ___________>
        <I am working effectively in my organized and clutter-free office>

2. Always phrase affirmations in the positive - Affirm what you DO want not what you DON'T want.
      <I arrive on time (early)  to every appointment>  NOT  <I am not late any more to my dates>
        <I breathe clean air into my lungs> NOT <I have quit smoking>

3. Keep affirmations short and simple; be precise and specific.
        <I am sleeping soundly through the night>
        <I am enjoying my new weight of ________>

4. State affirmations with feeling...
        ..the more feeling you convey the stronger impression it makes on your mind.
        <I am good at what I do!> <I am a dynamic and interesting speaker!>

5. Create a feeling of belief that your affirmation IS true; suspend doubts/eliminate negative thoughts.  Have patience and trust in the process.
        <All difficulties between ________and me are now dissolved; we have a loving relationship>
        <I am enjoying my new life as a single, independent woman>

6. Visualize your affirmations as you make these positive statements.
        <Financial success is coming to me easily and effortlessly>
        <I am a thoughtful and caring person>
        <Here I am spending a wonderful weekend in the mountains>

7. Place yourself in a receptive state of mind when you state your affirmations.
        Relax, breathe..get centered.
        The best times of the day to say affirmations are just before you go to bed and just after awakening in the morning...
        The mind is more likely to be receptive at these times because it is in its alpha state.

8. Write down your affirmations.
        Write on stickey notes and place in conspicuous places: on your bathroom mirror, on your refrigerator, on you car dashboard, on your computer screen...
        Write the affirmation 20 - 30 times as you say it to yourself.

9. Tape your affirmations onto a recorder and listen to them repeatedly...while you are working out...in the car...at home...taking a walk...

10. Tell others your affirmations...People see you as you present yourself.
        Repeat them often throughout the day.
