ON THE EDGE:
Last week's issue dealt with the Top Ten Fears of Risk-Taking...
Number One Fear = THE EDGE.
What is your growing Edge? It is the place in your life that is the end of your comfort zone..the end of the known..where, if you go over the edge, you will grow..learn..develop. Often going over the edge creates a major shift or breakthrough in your life. One of the reasons people hire coaches is to help them find their edge and then to go over their edge.
Being at the EDGE is the moment of Truth in Risk-Taking!
Are you at your EDGE?
How can you motivate yourself to go beyond your EDGE?

Here are some comments from some readers regarding THE EDGE:

"Edges are important because they define a limitation in order to deliver
us from it. When we come to an edge we come to a frontier that tells us
that we are about to become more than we have been before. As long as one
operates in the middle of things one can never really know the nature of
the medium in which one moves." <Source unknown>

"IF YOU'RE NOT LIVING ON THE EDGE YOU'RE TAKING UP TOO
MUCH SPACE!"
Lucille Homcy

DO IT NOW!
If you're putting off something you've been meaning to do, what are you waiting for?

Always wanted to play the banjo?
Start taking lessons.

Dreamt about visiting the Greek Islands?
Call a travel agent.

Hate your bathroom wallpaper?
Scrape it off and paint.

Feel better if you exercised?
Start jogging.

Love the taste of home-grown tomatoes?
Plant you own.

Angry about the potholes in your street?
Go to your town meetings.

Whatever you've been putting off,
Do it now. Tomorrow may be too late.

A few people have requested that I reprint the poem I referred to by Goethe about what happens once you COMMIT - i.e. once you get off your EDGE!

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative there is one elementary truth,
the ignorance of which calls countless ideas and splendid plans:
that the moment one definitely commits oneself,
providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would have never occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents
and meetings and material assistance.
which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can,
BEGIN IT!
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it"
