WHAT'S A TELECLASS?

       Are you missing out on the new form of adult learning? Have you
heard of the Teleclass? Are you taking advantage of all the free (and fee)
teleclasses available to you? If not, read on...

       A teleclass is a class which is conducted via a telephone bridge
line, connecting the instructor and all the participants (which can be as
few as 3 or as many as 150!). The instructor manages the call by sharing
information on the teleclass topic, facilitating the discussion, responding
to issues raised, and honoring the time frame (usually one hour). Most
teleclasses are highly interactive: participants ask questions and/or
comment on key points with the instructor or with others on the call. Thus
people find teleclasses to be quite energizing as well as interesting and
informative.

       Here's how it works: you call the bridge number you have been given
at the exact time; the instructor will welcome you with something like:
"hello, who just joined the call?" you answer by giving your first name
and where you are calling from ("hello, this is Laurie from Boston").
After greeting callers for the first 3 minutes, the instructor will begin
the teleclass(for more information on teleclass guidelines, see my

       Teleclass learning is the virtual classroom of the new millenium!
The advantages of the teleclass format will be attracting more and more
people as they begin to discover this exciting new learning modality.
 

TOP TEN ADVANTAGES TO TAKING A TELECLASS:

       1.INFORMATION/TRAINING: You gain valuable information, get new
ideas, and/or learn new skills based on the topic of the teleclass.

       2. CONVENIENCE & COMFORT: You can make the call from your home or office (or car or boat or airplane!); you can call from your bed or your bathtub...you can wear whatever you want: your pajamas, your bathing suit, or nothing at all! You can call from a hammock in Tahiti..while on vacation...or at work. Wherever you are, if there is a telephone, you can take a teleclass.

       3. HASSLE-FREE: No commuting hassles...no rush hour traffic to deal
with...no parking problems.

       4. TIME-SAVING: A one-hour call is just one hour. No need to
include commuting time or parking time with your class time.

       5. MONEY-SAVING: Many teleclasses are free, most are inexpensive.
You pay only for the long-distance phone charge which should only be about
5 cents/minute (or $3.00). Gas and parking for a regular class will cost much more than that!

       6. DIVERSITY: Participants call in from all over the United States (and the world!) so that you experience points of view and get new ideas from a variety of people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

       7. CONNECTION: Participants report feeling connected to a diverse group of people with a common interest or concern. You truly get to experience and be part of our global community!

       8. INCREASED PARTICIPATION: Teleclasses are highly interactive..as
if everyone is <sitting in the front row>. It can be easier to share and be heard...to ask questions and to get feedback. However, you can also choose to just sit and listen i.e. be in the <back row>.

       9. INCREASED INTIMACY: Because of the anonymity of the teleclass,
many participants report that it is easier to share more personal concerns/situations; they feel safer to take more risks...which can lead to greater insights and even breakthroughs. People also report the comfort they feel by hearing that they are not alone in their concerns.

      10. CUTTING-EDGE Learning: You are in the Vanguard...the first
Wave...of this exciting learning modality and will be with others who are also on THE Wave. Therefore there tends to be higher-level discussions and deeper learning. You are with a select group of people who, like you, want to be in the forefront..take risks..grow and evolve!
