READER FEEDBACK:
 Welcome to my new subscribers!  I love to hear from you.

<Hey Laurie,
My suggestions for relaxing at work:
Do not eat lunch at your desk.  That is a critical moment to step away and recharge, both physically (by eating) and mentally (by thinking about other things besides work).  At my most stressful times in my job, I noticed I was either eating lunch while working, or skipping lunch altogether...making me extra grouchy for the rest of the day.  Suggestions for how to spend your lunch time: go for a walk outside with a buddy; go somewhere away from you workstation and read a book, or write a letter; or do errands if you must, but be sure to eat.  Just don't let work take over your consciousness.  You are more than your job.  DO NOT ACCEPT  any "expectations" from superiors that you skip lunch.  Everyone works better when they've had a break.> Cheers, Margie

2. Topic: <TOP TEN D'S to De-STRESS>

        Many of us find that we are often operating on overload...overwhelmed with all our responsibilities and activities.  Therefore it becomes vitally important that we find ways to simplify our life so that we can enjoy it.  Each of us must find what works best for us.  This month I have been sharing ideas with you for simplifying, systematizing, reducing tolerations and stress for a more peaceful, meaningful, and ultimately fulfilling life.  Recently I read an excellent new book called THE POWER OF FOCUS* by Jack Canfield, et al, which gives an excellent formula for this current, universal problem of overload:

        <The 4-D SOLUTION>

1.  DO IT - Do those important tasks NOW....don't procrastinate..take action to move forward, even if it is only one step at a time.

2. DUMP IT - If you can't or don't want to do it, then dump it!  Toss those long-standing projects or old clothes; get rid of those tolerations; say NO to those extra demands; learn to let go of the stuff in your life that is keeping you from getting your important needs met.

3. DELEGATE IT - If you don't want to dump it, then find someone who can do it for you - Ask: "who else can do this task?"

4.DEFER IT - If you can't do it now, you don't want to dump it, and no one else can do it, set a time when you can get it done at a later date.  Defer the task but schedule a specific time to get it done - and stick to your deadline!

I  add more D's to the <4-D Formula> to create the <10 D Design to De-Stress>

5. DECIDE - Before you follow the first 4 D's, you must first DECIDE on what you want to DO - DUMP - DELEGATE - DEFER.  This takes some careful thought, planning, decision-making, and prioritizing (in FOCUS there is an excellent formula for prioritizing)

6. DILIGENCE - You must use diligence and persistence to do your D's.  You can never achieve big results in your life without consistent and persistent action. We need CONSISTENT PERSISTENCE!
It has been said that success is 90% perspiration and only 10% inspiration - hard work pays off!

7. DETERMINATION - Successful people never give up: they are determined to succeed; they face failure and see mistakes as learning opportunities. Determination breeds inspiration and a positive success spiral.

8. DEVELOP - Develop a plan for success: develop SMART goals; prioritize your goals; develop positive success habits; be a lifelong learner and develop yourself over time to be all that you can be.

9. DEADLINES - Set deadlines to get things done ....and DO NOT DELAY!  Find a way to hold yourself accountable (or hire a coach or ask a friend or colleague); then reward yourself for your efforts!

10. DELIGHT - Take delight in your actions - have fun with the 10 D's - DESIGN the perfect life for YOU!
